Build a book – Family workshop

Learn about book crafts at the Royal Danish Library and build a book yourself. For children aged 8 and over and their adults.

Come along to the family workshop, where children and their adults can express themselves creatively with book crafts. We will produce our own book and delve into the traditional methods, techniques and designs of book crafts. Immerse yourself in a pleasant family activity. Children and adults make the book's accessories themselves, such as book binding and book pad, and you choose the design and aesthetic expression for your book yourself.

The materials of the books are manufactured by manual bookbinders from the library's preservation department, which works daily to bind and protect the books in the library's enormous collections. We guide you through the various steps in bookbinding, and we recommend that children and adults help each other along the way. After the workshop, you can take your book home and perhaps use it as a notebook, diary or something else entirely.

Practical information

The workshop is for families, so children must be accompanied by an adult. The workshop is suitable for children aged 8 and over.

Please come 15 minutes early, as the workshop starts at 10:00 a.m.
