To the polling stations!

Election day is approaching. Take a trip back to previous election periods as we go through our archive of election photographs.

Since the introduction of democracy in Denmark in 1848, we have had to attend elections and vote for the nation's future. Election days have particular historical significance, because they are the days when the entire nation has had to gather around a common goal, namely Danish democracy.

But election days have not always looked like they do today.
