Grants

Each year, we award grants from two foundations. In order to be considered, a number of conditions must be met.

Market gardener Harry Opstrup’s Foundation

Purpose

The purpose of the foundation is to expand public knowledge about the ongoing development of photography and thereby increase appreciation of the photographer’s work.

Projects meriting support

The board supports among other things:

  • Large supplementary procurements, both domestic and foreign
  • Arranging non-permanent exhibitions, or
  • Assisting with renting, acquiring or building permanent facilities for exhibition purposes

The board may grant unsolicited funding and/or call up applications for funding.

Please send us your letter of motivation, including attachments, no later than 15 April.

Stamp dealer and railway historian Peer Olav Thomassen’s Foundation

Purpose

The purpose of the foundation is to ensure the continuation of research of primarily Danish traffic and communication history.

Projects meriting support

To promote this goal, allocation of funds may be made available for:

  • Procuring relevant material, including necessary storage, registration, cataloguing, binding, preservation et cetera, of said material
  • Preparation of publications, including wages and printing costs, et cetera.
  • Study and research costs, including travel allowances, or
  • Funds for exhibitions, seminars, congresses, et cetera.

How to apply for Royal Danish Library's grants and funds

Get ready to write an application for Royal Danish Library's grants.

The application must contain the following
  • Project description: Describe a brief background to the project, the project content and why it is important. Max 5,000 characters.
  • Organisation: Who is involved in the project and how is the project organised, including any partners.
  • Finance/budget, see below: Draw up a fair project budget, including expected income and expenses. See budget specification below.
  • Timetable: Set up a realistic timetable for the project
  • Objectives: Why is the project important. Set up objectives that are relevant, meaningful and preferably measurable.
  • Target groups: Define as specifically as possible – who is the core target group?
  • Communication of the project: How to communicate to project target groups.
Requirements for the budget
  • Preparation of a fair budget: Including expected expenses, specified in overall budget items.
  • Financing plan: Including any self-financing, any other funds applied for and the result thereof.
