Cultural heritage collections move to Vinge

In the summer of 2022, the library's relocation of cultural heritage collections to a new storage facility in Vinge will begin. Certain materials will be unavailable for a shorter period of time.

In the summer of 2022, one of the major relocations in the Royal Danish Library's history will begin when the first of many cultural heritage collections are moved from central Copenhagen to our new joint storage facility in Vinge by Frederikssund.

The collections of unique cultural heritage material are being relocated to provide them with the right preservation and protection conditions. In addition, we have had a strong focus on the new storage facility's energy consumption being as sustainable as possible, including the use of geothermal heating and cooling in the climate-controlled facilities.

The move means that you may find that a small part of our collections will be inaccessible for a shorter period. Of course, we do our best to ensure that the move causes as few inconveniences as possible.

Use of unique cultural heritage materials during the move

If you need access to unique materials in the research reading rooms, you must be aware that parts of the unique material will be unavailable in the second half of 2022.

If you are planning a research project or a research assignment, you are welcome to contact us already via the Ask Library, and we will help you find out if the material is available during the period you need it.

Pay attention to summer opening hours

If you use material in the Research Reading Room, please be aware of the Research Reading Room's summer opening hours. The research reading room is the only place where the materials can be accessed.
