Guided tours of The Black Diamond, Copenhagen
Public tour
We invite you to join a guided tour of Royal Danish Library, where you can gain insight into what cultural heritage is and why it matters for both the present and the future.
The tour takes place in the newest part of Royal Danish Library, the iconic waterfront building The Black Diamond, as well as in the older part of the library: the Holm and Hansen buildings.
Learn more about the architecture, history, cultural activities and the work of Royal Danish Library, including what we collect, preserve and share with the public.
- Monday at 3 p.m. – language: English
- Sunday at 12 noon – language: English
- Sunday at 1.30 p.m. – language: Danish
- Duration: 1 hour
- Number of participants: Up to 25 people
Prices
- Adults DKK 120
- Young people under 27 years old DKK 60
- Admission is free for young people under 18 and Annual Pass holders.
The ticket also includes admission to all exhibitions in The Black Diamond on the day of the tour.
Tickets can be purchased online or in the shop at The Black Diamond.
Private tour

The ticket also includes admission to all exhibitions in The Black Diamond on the day of the tour.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate bookings at short notice, so we kindly ask that you book four to six weeks in advance.
Specifically for school groups
School groups are very welcome to visit The Black Diamond. The following options are available:
- We offer educational programmes led by one of the library’s educators for early years settings, primary and lower secondary schools, and upper secondary education programmes. Take a closer look at our current and upcoming offers.
- Book a time slot for a self-guided visit to the building or exhibitions.
- You can also book a private guided tour on the same terms as other visitor groups. Read more about private guided tours above.

Public tour
Guided tours on Saturdays
On Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. we offer a shorter guided tour.
Here, you can enjoy the view from the top of the Book Tower and visit the library museum on the top floor.

- Duration: 20 minutes

Private tour
On the tour we will talk about the library's history and collections, the architecture and the study environment, and take a look at the view from the Book Tower.
The visit can be combined with lunch or coffee/tea and cake in the library canteen.

- Duration: 45 minutes
- Number of participants: Maximum 25 people per group
- Time: Monday - Thursday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Price: DKK 1,000.
