Chief Executive of Royal Danish Library
The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for Royal Danish Library as a knowledge and cultural institution with partners and users throughout Denmark.
As a cultural institution, the national library and a university library, Royal Danish Library is a cornerstone of our democratic society. At a time marked by misinformation, polarisation and rapidly evolving information flows, the library serves as a trusted source of knowledge, providing a stable foundation. We open the way to a world of knowledge, cultural heritage and cultural experiences for the benefit of our many thousands of users, visitors and partners across the country.
The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for Royal Danish Library as a professional knowledge and cultural institution, as well as responsibility for the library's emergency preparedness and the Management Secretariat.
The Chief Executive's responsibilities, in collaboration with the rest of the Executive Management, include:
- to provide strategic direction and to develop and operate Royal Danish Library as a modern public institution that continually develops new solutions and services and provides access to a world of knowledge that makes a difference to society, in close collaboration with partners and stakeholders
- to ensure that Royal Danish Library's responsibilities are carried out reliably and that the library operates as a unified organisation across its various core functions and geographical locations
- to exercise visible leadership with a focus on professional and organisational development
- to maintain and strengthen close relationships with the Danish Ministry of Culture and the library's other partners.
