Loan rules

When you have found a title in REX, you see in Loan rule in 'Request & Location' which opportunities you have:

Loans

Books
The normal loan period of a book is 1 month unless it is on hold for another user - in that case the loan period is 14 days.

If the book is not on hold for somebody else, you may renew the loan for 1 month at a time.The maximal loan period is normally 6 months.

The loan period for materials obtained from other libraries is normally 30 days, but the period is laid down by the lending library.

Please write to Kontaktbiblioteket, if you need to keep the materials after the due date. Then we shall inquire whether the due date can be extended.

Periodicals

The normal loan period for a periodical is 14 days unless it is on hold for another user - in that case the loan period is 7 days. If it is not reserved for another user you can renew the loan 14 days at a time. The maximum loan period is normally 6 months.

 

Other rules relating to loans

Short term loans

  • Morning to evening loan: The item can be taken in the opening hours of the library.

Borrowing special materials

  • Locker: Students of the University of Copenhagen can borrow a locker for 2 months.
  • Thesis locker: Students of the University of Copenhagen can borrow a thesis locker for 6 months.
  • Ebook reader/iPad/Dictaphone: The material can be borrowed for 1 month. The loan can't be renewed.
  • Theatre loan: The item can be borrowed by users of the Theatre Collection for 1 month.
  • Orchestre loan: The item can be borrowed by orchestre users for 3½ months.
  • Other medias: The item can be borrowed for 7 days.

 Reading room loans

Items that you can't borrow for home loan can be requested for use in the reading room.

  • Reading room loan a, Reading room loan b, Reading room loan c, KB Reading Room: The material can be used in the reading room in the Black Diamond.
  • KB Reading Room ID: The material can be used in the reading room in the Black Diamond for 1 month. A special reading room ID card is required.
  • Reading room/Free PDF: Danish books from 1701-1918 are also delivered in a free digitized edition. If you choose a Free PDF, the book will be digitized, and you will be forwarded a link for the digitized edition. The process usually takes 3-5 days.

Reference books

  • Library use only: The material is a handbook for use at the library only. Photocopies can be requested.

Copenhagen University Library loans

  • KU loan: The material can only be borrowed by students and staff at the University of Copenhagen for 1 month.
  • KUB Reading Room loan: The material can be used at institutes and libraries at the University of Copenhagen for 1 month. The material may be taken out - ask the library in question.
  • KUB library use only: The material can be used at institutes and libraries at the University of Copenhagen. Staff at the University of Copenhagen may borrow it for use in their own office.

 

Information on accessibility of the material

In some situations special conditions apply as to the access of the material. This information also appears in loan rules. Special conditions may apply because the material is getting ready for use or has not yet been received. When you log in it will appear for each item whether or not it may be requested.
