The reading room, Victor Albecks Vej, Aarhus

The iconic reading room has been preserved and remains largely in its original condition, as it was at the time of the library’s inauguration in 1963.

Surrounded by books and oak shelving, you can immerse yourself in literature and study in calm surroundings. In 2016, the reading room was renovated. As part of this renovation, the 22 shelving units by the windows were converted into study spaces, resulting in a total of 100 seats in the reading room.

Using the reading room

The reading room is a space for students, researchers, or any interested citizens. It can be used during the library's opening hours.

Activities

We occasionally host events in the reading room. such as letter-writing concerts.

What can you do here?

The reading room is a quiet zone. You are therefore not allowed to talk or eat.

Other reading rooms

In addition to the reading room, there are enclosed reading rooms with individual study spaces on the first and second floor. Stilheden 1 on the first floor has 56 seats, and Stilheden 2 on the second floor has 54.
