Cultural Heritage, Events and Hospitality
We preserve and manage Denmark's physical and digital cultural heritage - from newspapers and manuscripts to advertisements and music.
Our shared cultural heritage and cultural experiences help us better understand ourselves as a people and Denmark's place in the world. In Cultural Heritage, Events and Hospitality, we provide access to a world of knowledge and cultural experiences in a rapidly changing society, helping to ensure that Royal Danish Library remains a cornerstone of our democratic knowledge-based society.
We are responsible for Royal Danish Library's user services and study facilities (excluding the university library locations, which are part of Partnerships for Education, Research and Accessibility), while ensuring access to our cultural heritage collections. We collect cultural heritage and the materials that will become the historical collections of the future - from manuscripts to digital information networks. We preserve our cultural heritage for future generations, conduct research into our collections and communicate cultural heritage through concerts, exhibitions, literary events and direct engagement with users.
The area is responsible for the following functions:
- Study facilities, reading rooms and interlibrary loans
- Exhibitions and cultural events
- Cultural heritage collections (including digital legal deposit, newspapers and radio/TV), research communication, research and partnerships
- Preservation of the library's manuscript and printed cultural heritage collections
- Retrodigitisation, digital preservation and media.
