Mathias Heise/Pelle von Bülow and UngKlang: Time of Remembrance

"Time of Remembrance" will, with selected poems by Tove Ditlevsen, form the framework for a poetic concert narrative which moves through the phases of life in three acts. The musicians and singers interpret Ditlevsen's universe through a unique mix of jazz, song and expressive, supporting sound images. The voices meet in improvisation, reading and sonorous echoes - which can be experienced as traces of who we were and who we still are.

About the artists

Mathias Heise and Pelle von Bülow are two of Denmark's leading young jazz musicians. Mathias Heise won the world championship in chromatic harmonica playing at the age of 20 at the World Harmonica Festival in 2013. He has since won both Danish and international awards, including the New Jazz Star of the Year (2015) and the Crown Prince Couple's Star Sprinkle Award (2016).

Pelle von Bülow is one of Denmark's best and most sought-after jazz guitarists. In 2022 he was awarded the Erik Moseholm Prize and in 2020 also the Tivoli Jazz Prize for his great artistic integrity and sonic presence. As an accompanist, he is world-class, and he is one of the few who can move effortlessly between jazz, Latin, blues, funk, R&B and pop.

UngKlang is a vocal ensemble consisting of nine young women with a common background in the DR Girls' Choir. Since 2020, the ensemble has used their classically trained voices to challenge and expand the expectations and understandings which are normally associated with the work of a vocal ensemble. UngKlang's artistic range and their courage to challenge the traditional are among the most important reasons why they manage to make choral music resonate with a younger target group than usual. UngKlang stems from a long-standing – for some even lifelong – friendship, which has been the natural focus of the ensemble since the beginning.
