The third day of Music Festival Days 2026 is for children and their families. This day is free for children, while adults can buy a ticket for DKK 120.
The theme for 20 September is around the world in classical music, so buckle up for a musical journey around the world, where audiences of all ages can broaden their musical horizons.
Programme
At 10 am, Atrium and Queen's Hall: Introduction to Children's Day in the Atrium in front of the Queen's Hall. Afterwards, children and their adults in the hall will walk to the Little Composers workshop, where everyone can learn to compose music in collaboration with Peter Bruun and members of Ensemble Storstrøm. After the workshop, there will be a concert, so all the children can show what they have created!
At 1 pm, Queen's Hall: Around the World Concert with Trio con Brio Copenhagen and Lucy Zhao, playing the Chinese lute instrument called the pipa. Mathias Hammer from DR's Den Klassiske Musikquiz will also be on stage to take children and their adults on a journey around the world in classical music!
At 2 pm, Queen's Hall: Concert with Michala Petri on recorder, Lucy Zhao on pipa, and the Danish string quartet NOVO Quartet. Listen to music from around the world performed by some of Denmark's best musicians!
The day will also offer short concerts in Royal Danish Library's children's universe, the Children's Library, with Lucy Zhao, Michala Petri, Anna Klett, and Soo-Jin and Soo-Kyung from Trio con Brio Copenhagen, all playing different instruments that children and their adults can experience up close.
The concerts at Music Festival Days take place in the Queen's Hall and the Children's Library, Royal Danish Library's dedicated space for children, which is open every Sunday.
Creative workshop
This sunday, the Children's Library is open and part of the Music Festival Days. In the creative workshop we are building and decorating our own works inspired by the concerts of the day and the library's large collection. Join us and build your own little drum.

Practical information
Entry is free for all children in the Children's Library and for Music Festival Days in The Black Diamond, but a you need to book a free children's ticket for all activities in the Queen's Hall. Adults pay DKK 120 to participate in the activities in the Queen's Hall.
The activities are targeted children in the ages 5-12, but all children are welcome.
The Sunday programme at The Black Diamond takes place in the Queen's Hall, located on the ground floor, and in the Children's Library, which is located in the open library areas on the second floor. Follow the signs throughout the building or ask our staff in the shop for help. Food can be purchased at The Black Diamond's café.
You can enjoy your packed lunch at the tables in the Octagon, which is located next to the Children's Library; however, seating is limited. In good weather, the Library Garden or the harbour quay are ideal places to enjoy your lunch.
