Come and join in the celebration of 100 years of Danish jazz! Over three Fridays in the summer sun, you can hear established names and young talents in a sublime selection from jazz styles. Enjoy a cold drink and get in the summer mood in front of The Black Diamond.

An original and eye-opening tour of Danish and American jazz history

Emil de Waal and his buddies in Old News will be guests at The Black Diamond this summer with their open and curious approach to the long and traditional history of jazz. With a strong collection of musicians from the Danish jazz scene, the group plays modern versions of Danish and American heavyweights, including John Mogensen, Hans Henrik Ley and Aske Bentzon, as well as Sidney Bechet, Fats Waller and Bessie Smith.

The group's next album Novelties will be released in September 2026, but until then you can make your own revisit to jazz history and listen to the group's album Gamle nyheder from 2017. The crew on the album consisted of jazz legend Elith "Nulle" Nykjær, among others, and was described by JazzNyt.com as "a must for the music-loving Dane. Originality and authenticity are paramount. It is one of the highlights of the year in Danish jazz."

On three Fridays in June and July you can enjoy the afternoon sun on the waterfront in front of The Black Diamond, where we offer a jazzy Friday bar. In front of the Black Diamond, you have a front row seat to experience the characteristic Copenhagen summer life in the harbour canal, with music in your ears.

The café's pop-up bar serves wine, draft beer, cold drinks, snacks, light meals and a summer atmosphere.

The concerts start at 4 p.m. and last until 6 p.m.
