Letter-writing concert with Rebecca Vats Jonsson
Come to a letter-writing concert in the iconic reading room at the Royal Danish Library in Aarhus and experience the very special atmosphere that arises when we write letters to live music.
When was the last time you sent a handwritten letter? And have you ever written letters while at a concert?
Once upon a time, the letter was the most common form of communication, and the postman, who was on a first-name basis with the entire local community, would drop by with letters up to three times a day. Today, most of our communication is fast, efficient and digital, and receiving a handwritten letter has become something very special. Perhaps because few environments in our everyday lives are devoted to the slowness and focus that a letter requires.
The focus of the letter writing concert is exactly that peace, contemplation and reflection. We invite you to take a seat in the library's beautiful reading room, gather your thoughts and let your writing process be accompanied by the notes of guitarist Rebecca Vats Jonsson's classical guitar. We will provide all the materials you need, and when your letter is finished, we will send it out into the world for you.
Before the concert there will be a short presentation about letter writing, music and immersion. After the concert we invite you to an after event where you can meet others and talk about the experience over a cup of coffee.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome - but remember to reserve a ticket.
Rebecca Vats Jonsson
With her guitar, Rebecca Vats Jonsson unfolds the different forms of music with changing soundscapes and timbres. Her instrumental sound universe creates a space for storytelling, reflection and sensory richness. A space where thoughts and feelings can move freely and where the presence between musician and listener mirrors each other and gives room for contemplation and being in the present.
