Billede af svævende bord af Sven Türk
In the exhibition you can see, among other things, this photo by photographer Sven Türck. In 1945, he published the book 'Jeg var dus med aanderne' (I was on familiar terms with the spirits). It was full of photographs from seances where participants had reportedly made tables float in the air.

Invitation: Opening of the special exhibition Between Heaven and Earth

Join us as we open this year's major special exhibition. Enjoy a glass of bubbles and explore thousands of years of fascination with what lies between heaven and earth.

Between Heaven and Earth is Royal Danish Library's new special exhibition, where the history of magic emerges from the darkness of its collections for the first time. It opens the doors to rare books of sorcery, alchemical writings, occult photographs and ritual objects – works that have been hidden from the public for generations.

In seven sensual and atmospheric rooms, the library's most mysterious treasures are brought to life: astrological charts and spirit photographs, handwritten formulas and testimonies of a world where witchcraft, healing and hope went hand in hand.

Programme

  • Welcome by Royal Danish Library's Deputy Director Søren Bitsch Christensen
  • Discussion about the exhibition with research librarians at Royal Danish Library Mette Kia Krabbe Meyer, Lene Vinther Andersen and Anders Toftgaard. Moderated by Christina Back, exhibition manager at Royal Danish Library
  • Reading of text by Dannie Druehyld
  • Light refreshments in the Atrium
  • Visit the exhibition

The exhibition is supported by

Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen's Foundation / Augustinus Foundation / Knud Højgaard's Foundation / Handelsgartner Harry Opstrups Fond / Konsul George Jorck og Hustru Emma Jorcks Fond / William Demant Foundation.
