Ashwani Shankar (IN) & Zuheb Ahmed Khan (IN) with musicians from the Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra

Come and hear two prominent Indian musicians together with three musicians from the Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra live in The Black Diamond's Atrium – completely free!

Ashwani Shankar is India's leading musician on the oboe-like instrument shehnai, which more than any other instrument expresses the Indian voice in a tradition - and which his family has carried on for more than 10 generations. Shankar has performed all over the world with, among others, Ravi Shankar.

The tabla drums are played by the young up-and-coming Zuheb Ahmed Khan, who with his cool swinging grooves and creative musicality continues the tradition of the recently deceased Zakir Hussein.

As part of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2026, they will play the concert Indian Skies in the Queen's Hall together with the Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra on Friday 3 July. This afternoon you can hear them in the Atrium in The Black Diamond together with some of the musicians from the Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra – completely free!
