Thought Leadership Stage: Jens Stoltenberg (NO) in conversation with Bo Lidegaard

Former NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg will visit The Black Diamond in Copenhagen on 27 October to mark the release of his memoir 'On My Watch'.

Jens Stoltenberg has been secretary-general of NATO from 2014-2024, working to ensure the freedom, stability and security of its member states. On 27 October, he will visit The Black Diamond, where he can be seen in a conversation with Bo Lidegaard about his experiences from working as NATO Secretary General at a time when everything from the war in Ukraine and NATO's involvement in Afghanistan to the cooperation with President Trump has had great significance for the international community.

About Jens Stoltenberg

Jens Stoltenberg (born 1959) is a Norwegian politician and economist. He was Prime Minister of Norway from 2000–2001 and again from 2005–2013. Stoltenberg was secretary-general of NATO from 2014–2024, a position he took over from Anders Fogh Rasmussen. In February 2025, he became Minister of Finance of Norway.

The occasion for the visit is Jens Stoltenberg's memoir På min vagt, which will be published on 1 October 2025 in a wide range of countries, including Denmark. The event is being held in collaboration with Gutkind Forlag and is part of Royal Danish Library's 'Thought Leadership Stage'.

Bente Skovgaard Kristensen, Chief Executive of Royal Danish Library, says: I am very pleased and proud that Royal Danish Library is hosting Jens Stoltenberg's visit to Denmark. In a time characterized by great uncertainty and polarization, there is a need for shared knowledge and experiences, and a good place to start is in literature and conversation. Now you have the opportunity to hear about the experiences from the work of NATO's top leadership at close range - during a period that was characterized by great security policy tensions. I hope that many, young and old, will seize this opportunity.
