Experience Tan Dun's spectacular Ghost Opera

The final concert of the season combines the music of Einojuhani Rautavaara and Tan Dun in an expressive and playful musical programme. Rautavaara's first string quartet is a lively work that spans fun and sorrowful emotions with clear references to Finnish folk music. Dun's Ghost Opera combines elements from Chinese music, folk songs and J. S. Bach in a breathtaking musical journey, where you can also hear the sounds of objects such as paper, water and stone.

The concert also features the Chinese string instrument, the pipa, which is rarely heard in Danish concert halls. The traditional string instrument is also called the “Chinese lute”, and this evening Lucy Zhao opens the evening’s concert with the solo pipa piece 霸王卸甲 - The Conqueror Lays Down His Armor - a traditional Chinese piece by an unknown artist from the 17th century.
