LIVE in the Library Garden – Yör, Nana Fatou, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen and Anja C. Andersen

Wonderful musicians, poets, actors and speakers create a poetic respite under the open late summer sky in Copenhagen's probably most beautiful and most secret garden.

Royal Danish Library's successful summer stage, LIVE in the Library Garden, returns with plenty of music, poetry and performance.

Over four late summer Thursdays in August and September, you can experience poetry, music and talks under the open sky in the historic setting between Christiansborg Palace and the old library building. A range of artists, actors, poets and researchers will take part.

The theme of the year – Trust

The theme of this year’s four late summer afternoons is trust. Trust is a prerequisite for human communities, both in our close relationships and at a societal level.

But what about trust today? Trust in the future, in the news, in authorities and politicians, in science, in love, and in ourselves. We often describe our welfare society as a high-trust society – but does that still hold true, or is it something of the past?

It is often said that once trust is lost, it cannot be regained. In an increasingly divided world, trust is one of the most precious things we have. So how do you build and nurture trust?

Benches will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, but you are very welcome to bring a blanket or a folding chair. Refreshments can be purchased from the café’s pop-up bar throughout the event. Our DJ will be playing laid-back tunes before and after the programme, so stay and enjoy the late summer atmosphere.Once again this year, LIVE in the Library Garden is presented in collaboration with Copenhagen University Library, bringing together research from the University of Copenhagen with art, poetry and music in order to highlight the societal value of research.

Participants

Yör

Yör creates a sound of dreamy yet raw honesty, where the delicate and the grand merge into an organic and electronic indie-pop universe. Centred around Marie Kildebæk’s distinctive vocals and strong songwriting, the band explores stories about relationships, identity and the moments when something is at stake.

In 2025, Yör was named Band of the Year at Den Uafhængige Music Awards, and in spring 2026 they released their second album "aldrig uden dig". The album centres on what we carry with us from the past and the relationships that shape us. Yör consists of Marie Kildebæk (vocals), Viktor Dahl (synth), Janus Bagh (bass) and Lasse Jacobsen (drums).

Nana Fatou

Nana Fatou is a student at Forfatterskolen and will graduate in 2026. In March 2026, she made her literary debut with the poetry collection "Toubab". The collection explores what it means to be a family across continents. It reflects on grief, white saviour complexes and the euphoria of reunion, while capturing the feeling of always having to prepare yourself for the next farewell.

Birgitte Hjort Sørensen

Birgitte Hjort Sørensen is an actress who graduated from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2007. She achieved her major breakthrough in Denmark, acting as the journalist Katrine Fønsmark in the acclaimed DR drama series Borgen (2010–2022). Since then, she has established herself both nationally and internationally through a wide range of theatre productions, musicals, films and television series, including the film Marie Krøyer (2012), the HBO hit Game of Thrones, and the television drama Oxen (2023–2025).

Anja C. Andersen

Anja C. Andersen is Professor of Astrophysics and Professor of Public Understanding of Science at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on cosmic dust and the evolution of the Universe, and she has published extensively on astrophysics, research policy and gender in academia.

She is a prominent voice in Danish science communication through books, newspaper columns, radio, television and podcasts, including Science from Wild Minds, Flying Saucer and Generation Mars. In addition, she is actively involved in a number of organisations and boards, serving as Chair of Videnskabsklubben (the Science Club) and Unge Forskere (Young Scientists), and as Vice President of the Society for the Dissemination of Natural Science.
