Niels Skousen
Singer and songwriter Niels Skousen has been a voice in Danish rock for more than 50 years. Hear him with his excellent band in The Queen's Hall for the first time!
Since his debut with the duo Skousen & Ingemann in 1970, Niels Skousen has distinguished himself as a singer and songwriter who, with raw honesty, humour and poetry, depicts and reflects on the contrasts of everyday life. His first release as a songwriter was the iconic album Herfra Hvor Vi Står, for which he provided all the songs. With this album, Niels Skousen entered Danish rock history as a personal and sensitive songwriter with an unusual depth in his lyrics.
Today, Skousen has been a voice in Danish rock for more than 50 years, from the beat generation, through the hippie era to today, where he has turned 80. He is a songwriter who dares to enter and touch the dark sides of life. There is a seriousness in his songs and yet a lightness that is redeeming with an undercurrent of sharp humour. A voice of our time.
If you ask him himself what he brings with him, he answers, briefly:
My songs are about you and me. What we do with and towards each other. They are about time and movement, about boundaries and hope, about memory and presence. They are a glimpse into time and at the same time a look at all the years that we have witnessed together
.
Niels Skousen's latest album from November 2022 is titled Blæsten og Regnen, and it deals with themes such as memory and longing. The land of childhood and utopia. Things that are lost and found again.
This evening, Niels Skousen will be visiting The Queen's Hall for the first time with a very sharp band behind him consisting of Kristoffer Munck Mortensen, Anders Mathiasen, Jens Hein and Bjørn Heebøll.
