Royal Danish Library's document service provides access to research literature which would otherwise be difficult or costly to obtain. The document service is targeted at organisations which occasionally need access to research literature, but where the cost of ongoing subscriptions to scientific journals does not balance the need.
Royal Danish Library is pleased that the partnership with The Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces and Danish Museums has been extended until 2028:
Central tool for museums' research
The collaboration between The Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces and Royal Danish Library on document services for museums was established as a pilot project in 2023. It is on the basis of an evaluation of the pilot project that desire to continue the collaboration has been identified.
The evaluation shows that Royal Danish Library's document service has become a central tool in the museums' research and development work. 74 museums have signed up for the scheme, and over 5,000 documents have been delivered during the period – of this 3,481 articles and 1,629 book chapters.
The evaluation also indicates high satisfaction with both delivery time and user-friendliness. Kira Stine Hansen is pleased that the museum employees have received the document service so well:
How Royal Danish Library's document service works
Organisations which have an existing collaboration or service agreement with Royal Danish Library can enter into a collaboration with the library on document service. Once the collaboration is entered into, the organisation's employees can order scientific articles and book chapters via an online portal. The service provides flexible and needs-based access to international research literature, which is delivered digitally, often within a few minutes.
