Royal Danish Library welcomes you to Reading Salon, where everyone can participate in an hour and a half of screen screen-free reading in our beautiful, historic Old Reading Room. Here, in the company of fellow readers, you get the opportunity to delve into that book that's been beckoning from the shelf, but which you have never quite found the time to begin.
Everyone is welcome – except for the blue light of screens. We're replacing smartphones with the crackle of turning pages in a tribute to the uninterrupted moment of immersion. Something that becomes increasingly desirable in an age of screen time. We provide a warm, calm and relaxed atmosphere; you bring the literature. And if you need a book to get started on, you can be inspired by the books on the shelves in The Old Reading Room. The Black Diamond's bookshop also offers a good selection for purchase.
At Royal Danish Library, we believe that the mind and soul need a break from time to time. Reading Salon is part of a series of events taking place throughout 2026, where we will open our doors to the much-needed reading breaks of our time.
