Musicals are a popular format – where is the form headed? Royal Danish Library will be visited by Doug Reside, curator of the Theatre Collection at the New York Public Library with a specialty in musicals. He will talk about how the library is working to actively develop the genre. At the same time, he will give an overview of what is currently happening in terms of innovations on the American musical scene.
Based on the presentation, a panel consisting of theatre director Søren Møller from Østre Gasværk Teater, composer Jørgen Lauritsen and playwright Julie Maj Jakobsen will discuss where the musical is heading in Denmark. Jesper Egelund, music programme manager at Royal Danish Library, will moderate the session.
The panel is held in collaboration with the Danish Musical Industry Association.
