Diotima Quartet (FR)

Three-day mini festival of top string quartets: The fantastic Diotima Quartet plays chamber music of the highest quality.

The sought-after quartet from Paris returns to The Black Diamond. The quartet has worked closely with several of the greatest composers including Pierre Boulez, and is one of the few quartets in the world to move seamlessly from contemporary music to pre-romanticism and back again.

The programme features a very young Schubert in his 6th Quartet, moving on to contemporary Thomas Adès and ending with Alexander von Zemlinsky's late Romantic Quartet.

Mini festival of top string quartets

Three quartets, all postponed due to the pandemic, come together for a three-day mini festival.

If you think you know everything about chamber music, think again. Three quartets, all from the top shelf, each with their own competent take on how chamber music should be played. Franz Schubert's music is the focal point of the programmes, which look back as well as forward in time at this European premiere.
