Christmas concert - Camerata Øresund and Fieri Consort

True to tradition, the baroque ensemble Camerata Øresund is back with this year's big Christmas concert.

Programme

  • Christoph Graupner: Christmas cantatas

For this year's Christmas concert, the programme consists of a selection of Christoph Graupner's Christmas cantatas, performed in collaboration with the British choir Fieri Consort, whose characteristic is to combine technical precision with theatrical performances. The choir are specialists in the 16th and 17th century Italian repertoire.

Camerata Øresund and Fieri Consort met for the first time in the summer of 2019, where they agreed to arrange vocal music by composers who, like Graupner, are not performed often.

Graupner is one of the forgotten stars of the Baroque. The concert's selection of his Christmas cantatas shows a transition from the Baroque to a more gallant style with an interesting coexistence of conservative and progressive elements.

Camerata Øresund consists, as the name suggests, of musicians living on both sides of the Øresund. Camerata Øresund was founded in 2010 by Peter Spisšký, and since then the ensemble has grown to become one of the region's most prominent baroque ensembles. The ensemble provides a rare platform for young talented musicians and singers. Dance, enthusiasm and interaction are essential elements for the ensemble's interpretations and dissemination of the music. With their dynamic and lively playing style, they breathe new life into the baroque repertoire and challenge common norms within classical music.
