BookTalks: Nikolai Torgersen
Experience the Norwegian author Nikolai Torgersen behind the novel Streets I Have Lived at BookTalks on 9 November.
Streets I Have Lived takes place in 2000s Oslo, where Nikolai grows up in poverty with his parents and three siblings in his childhood home, where people live more in adversity than in prosperity. Here, people steal electricity from their neighbours, wash in a bucket and share their drugs. When their childhood home is foreclosed, Nikolai is forced onto the streets, where he is constantly exposed and left searching for a place to sleep. *Streets I Have Lived* is a harsh but beautiful story about growing up in poverty and homelessness in the world’s richest country.
Streets I Have Lived is Nikolai Torgersen’s literary debut, and you can experience him in conversation about the novel with author Hans Peter Madsen. The event will be held in English.
After the conversation, there will be a book sale and signing, and we invite you to a social dining, where you can stay and continue both the conversation and the fun over a meal in the library canteen for DKK 50.
