About digital manuscripts

Digital facsimile versions of selected manuscripts in the Royal Danish Library's collections have been produced since 1997. This – digitally speaking – large time frame and the differences in quality and layout are reflected in the digitized materials found on this site.

The manuscripts range from latin codices over Middle Age treasures to manuscripts by significant Danish authors. You will also find older thematic web treatments of selected authors, often in connection with exhibitions at The Royal Library. Only the sections on Hans Christian Andersen and Søren Kierkegaard are in English.

In the Royal Library's Digital Collections recently digitized manuscripts are published (also accessible from the manuscript database in the library catalog REX). Over time most digital manuscripts will be made available from the Digital Collections site.
