Reading Room E West
The National Library's room of study
Welcome in The National Library's room of study E-West which is open to everyone. The reading room comprises an extensive reference collection concerning music (also sheet music), performing arts, Oriental and Judaic studies. The seats are for everyone - no matter which subject you have.
The entrance is at the balcony at the E level, West in The Black Diamond.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday closed.
The reading room is for studying. Here you can:
- Bring your own study materials, books etc.
- Use the hotspot on your own computer or the computers in the room
- Use numerous pieces of music and books concerning music, performing arts, Oriental studies and Jewish culture and history.
- Get help and special guidance concerning these subjects by using the telephone in the room from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In the Reading Room West (C level) you can meet subject specialists in music, theatre and judaica
It is possible to bring your own dry snacks and beverages in the reading room.
The reference collection can be used at the tables at the back of the room - see the signs on the table. Food or beverages are not allowed when you use the reference books or music.
Oriental or Judaic material, plays, printed music as well as music manuscritps from the stacks can be ordered to Reading Room West
You can use a photocopying/print facility - please notice the special rules about copying music. Ask via the telephone or at Reading Room West, when in doubt. It is permitted to use your own camera.
You can use the electric piano with earphones in the reading room.
The red cases in the reading room contain clippings on Danish composers and musicians from the period 1980-2001. You can access it by asking the Music and Theatre Department.
