Oriental and Judaica reference books at Reading Room E-West

The Oriental and Judaica reference collections, in Western and original languages, is available at Reading Room E-West (Læsesal E-Vest, formerly Center for Orientalia & Judaica). For opening hours, please cf. the library’s general information.

The reference collection is shelved according to subject codes (for an overview click here). The most recent issues of selected periodicals in subscriptions are available for perusal on location.

Readers can bring their own computers etc., books from other collections or private books into the reading room. Dry snacks and drinks in covered containers are allowed, except at the two tables at the back of the room, which are for reference books only. Please return the reference books to the shelves after use. 

Digital cameras are allowed, and a copying machine is available, which also allows scan to mail. 

To order manuscripts and rare books

Access to manuscripts and rare books require a valid loaner’s card and a Reader ID-Card (application form (PDF). Manuscripts with records in REX, are to be requested in REX. Manuscripts, which cannot be located in REX, have to be ordered on special forms, available in Reading Room West (Læsesal Vest, level C) and Reading Room E West. The orders will normally be processed in order to make the material availalble for use at Reading Room West the next day (Mon-Fri), unless otherwise agreed. 

Printed books are to be ordered in REX, and will be ready the next working day, after 2 pm. 

Reference books from Reading Room E West (Læsesal E Vest) in Reading Room West (Læsesal Vest), that are needed for personal use over longer period, can be reserved in REX and will be available the next working day.
