Lomme Ulrik on a visit

Thomas Dambo's giant troll, Lomme Ulrik, is traveling around Denmark to collect pocket fluff for a sweater. He has now arrived at Royal Danish Library in Aarhus.

Everyone can donate pocket fluff to the good cause before he leaves on 7 January 2027.

Since 2014, Thomas Dambo has become internationally known for his monumental wooden trolls. The large, good-natured giants are made from recycled wood and discarded materials. They are hidden all over the world in nature and are accompanied by stories that mix folklore, environmental awareness and community participation. The trolls are hunted by both national and international 'troll hunters' and shows, in the most beautiful way, that waste can become art and at the same time invite you to explore a new world.

Thomas Dambo focuses on sustainability. As he says himself: “Waste is treasure. By sending people on a treasure hunt to find art made from waste, I hope to create a new understanding of the things we throw away and combat the ugly disposable mentality that floods our world with waste.” Sustainability and resources are highly relevant topics that are on many people’s minds, including many of the library’s visitors.

Lomme Ulrik is Thomas Dambo's only traveling troll. He creates the story of sustainability both in his own production of pure and recycled materials, and with his message that all resources are valuable – even the pocket fluff that we consider of no value.
