The piece is notated on manuscript paper that originally formed the title page to Hymne til Kunsten (CNW 113) of 1929 which was the year when Nielsen wrote 29 små præludier for orgel eller harmonium (CNW 96). It is therefore possible that the piece was composed in this connection and subsequently rejected.
