Composition: 1 May 1890.

Like "Viborg Domkirke" (NWGW 199) and "Sangertog gjennem Sundet" (NWGW 202) "Nordens Folkeaand" was written for the Danish choral societies' festival, this time in Aarhus. Gade only completed the choral score and left the instrumentation to someone else. This orchestration has not survived, only the indication of the instruments listed in Gade's choral score.
