Composition: March 1851.
The famous Danish physicist and chemist, who discovered that electric currents create magnetic fields (named "Ørsted's Law"), died on 9. March 1850. He was buried from Vor Frue Kirke nine days later. The first choral was sung by Studenter-Sangforeningen at the coffin in the ceremonial hall of the University, while the second movement was performed in the church across the square.
