Composition: March 1843.

Gade composed "Kjøge" at the request of Poul Christian Erslev, who was the organist of Sankt Nikolaj church in Køge and the brother of Gade's later business partner and father-in-law Emil Erslev.

In the upper right-hand corner: "Gade" added in pencil in foreign hand. On staves 1-6 version for mixed choir end-dated "Martz 1843. N.W. Gade". On staves 7-10 version for male choir in F major and on staves 11-16 piano accompaniment. After the final bar: "Venskabelig / Hilsen fra / N.W. Gade".
