In May 1931, the men's choir Bel Canto celebrated its silver jubilee with a Scandinavian male choir rally. For this occasion, Nielsen composed his last choral work. Aage Berntsen's text is dated 1 April 1931, and Nielsen's fair copy is end-dated two days later.
