Author: Lauritz Christian Nielsen
Composition: 1907–08.
The music for Willemoes was composed by Emilius Bangert, Axel Schiøler and Carl Nielsen. The latter's share was a Prelude to Act Three and four songs which were later published including an additional fifth melody by Nielsen. According to surviving letters, Nielsen was in touch with the writer L.C. Nielsen about the play in October and November 1907.

It has not been possible to determine whether 'clavecin' is meant indicate harpsichord or clavichord; however, if Nielsen had meant piano ('klaver'), it seems most likely that he would have indicated so.
