The present flute concerto in G major as well as SchW A1:005 and A1:006 are part of the Aalholm Samling which belonged to Otto Ludvig Raben (1729–1791). Originally the collection seems to have included around 30 flute concertos. Otto Ludvig was an able amateur flute player who studied both in Paris with Michel Blavet and in Copenhagen with Palschau (presumably Peter Jakob) and 'Sønnichsen', among others. He also participated actively in The Musical Society. The father, Frederik Raben (1693–1773), seems to have been one of Scheibe’s closest protectors and an important patron of the arts, arranging an overwhelming number of concerts both at his country estate and at his town mansion in Stormgade, especially during the winter season. As the sources’ physical evidence indicates, at least part of the orchestral material to these flute concertos was produced in Denmark: the paper is Danish (with the royal monogram of Christian VI who died in 1746), and the bass part of the present concerto was transcribed by the composer himself. Thus, it is possible that the works were specifically composed for Otto Ludvig though the concertos might also be among those which Scheibe mentions in his early autobiography (Mattheson's Grundlage,1740; SchW C5:001).

Source consists of five parts (fl., vl.1, vl.2, va., bs.), each a bifolio of which the va. is employed as folder for all the parts with fol. 1r as title page; all parts trimmed. Two different hands, one of which is Scheibe's (bs. part), and two distinct paper types; together with the Danish watermark this suggests that Scheibe made the copy during his early years in Copenhagen. The second hand, a professional copyist, also appears in SchW A1:006.

Hand-ruled paper, 13 staves (10 mm; single rastrum used) in light ink and music in black ink; bottom three staves on fol. 1r and eleven on fol. 2r have not been used. The part is in Scheibe's hand (though F-clef is a mirror-image, which Scheibe never employed, suggesting that a copyist carried out the preliminary details), a few additions such as dynamics in lighter ink. Watermark: a distinct and clearly visible watermark consisting of the royal cipher 'C6' (King Christian VI; reigned 1730–46) and the countermark 'I D' (Johann Drewsen), corresponding to Lassen:IV.6 and Voorn:IV,6; datable to around the end of the 1740s. Paper of a fairly dense quality.
