J.P.E. Hartmann

Canzonetta

HartW 71
JPEW III/2 no. 31
DF 23

Composition: 21 Sept. 1840.

This little Canzonetta has been handed down as "No. 5", albeit the piece has been cancelled in the manuscript for "Acht Skizzen" (HartW 72). The beginning of the composition was used again later on in No. 4 of the piano pieces from 1864 with the title "Juletrøst" and prefaced with a poem by Carl Andersen. Only the first eigtheen bars of the two versions are identical, while the remaining has nothing to do with each other.
