1 folio. Written in ink on both pages (added pencil sketches at the bottom of one of the pages). Paper: 20 staves. Recto: "Andante sostenuto". End-dating: "15/9 53."
A combination of this source and the fair copy of the sonata apparently comprises the earliest version with the following order of movements: Allegro grazioso, Allegretto Intermezzo, Andante sostenuto, Allegro commodo, including the bridge passage between the two last movements. As it may be seen from the datings the Andante was finished more than one year earlier than the first movement.

Above the first stave on the first music page (p. 2): "Sonate". Contents: First movement and Andante sostenuto, con largezza. Later Hartmann moved the latter movement to "Klaverstykker fra ældre og nyere Tid", Opus 74 (HartW 120). Pencil additions on top of pp. 13 and 14 (=20) "Skrives ikke" (not to be copied), referring to the cancelled staves on the pages in question (equivalent with the last 36 bars of the first movement). This remark does not belong to the sonata but it was added when Hartmann later moved the gathering in question to the manuscript of Opus 74 (Andantino). At the bottom of p. 22 a remark is added, which also relates to the removal of this part of the manuscript to Opus 74: "NB Efter No 3s Slutning tilbage til No 4 pag. 19, Allegretto moderato" (After the end of No. 3 go back to No. 4 p. 19, Allegretto moderato).
