Regulations for public and research libraries

Applies to libraries with a library number.

Loans between the Royal Danish Library and Danish (and some Nordic) public and research libraries are handled via the national lending cooperation (Netpunkt and bibliotek.dk) and in an automatic exchange of messages between the library systems.

In some cases, Danish and Nordic libraries borrow via the Royal Danish Library's general library system.

Other foreign libraries borrow via the Royal Danish Library's general library system.

§1 Registration

Libraries are registered by contacting Ask the library.

§2 Use

Libraries can order materials for borrowing as well as in some cases material subject to proviso for use in local reading rooms.

§3 Loan period

The loan period is 42 days unless otherwise stated. The maximum loan period is six months, provided that there are no other orders for the material.

Loans made through the national loan cooperation are automatically renewed by inquiry via the libraries' library system or by contacting Ask the library.

Loans made via The Royal Danish Library's general library system renews automatically.

§4 Delivery

Delivery takes place with the National Transport Scheme or alternatively as postal delivery.

§5 Recall notices

Loans made through the national loan cooperation are recalled the day after the delivery date. There is no recall fine to be paid.

For loans made via The Royal Danish Library's general library system, a reminder is sent per mail before the date the material is due back and then three recall notices after the loan is due back. There is no recall fine to be paid.

§6 Liability for compensation

In case of loss of material, the price of the material is charged by invoice.
