Concerto Copenhagen and Kristian Bezuidenhout

Piano concerts – like never before!

Programme

  • JM Kraus: The Overture to Olympia
  • Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 19 in F major, K.459

Intermission

  • Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 2 in Bb major op.19

“A magical concert. The world was never the same after”, was the review last time the South African pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout played a concert with Concerto Copenhagen in November 2020. Bezuidenhout and Concerto Copenhagen will repeat the success in 2023.

Kristian Bezuidenhout and Concerto Copenhagen offer current interpretations of Mozart and Beethoven.

In addition to exploring the two composers' chamber music sides, this time a Scandinavian angle has been added: the concert starts with German-Swedish Joseph Martin Kraus' - also called "Sweden's Mozart" - overture to the play Olympia.

Then as now, the orchestra will be led in a chamber musical interplay with the piano, placed in the middle of the orchestra – as when Beethoven and Mozart themselves played the solo parts for their piano concertos.
