GKS 1340 4°: Cyprianus, De mortalitate. De patientia. De virginibus

Parchment, 31 ff., 21,1 × 14,2 cm; France, c. 850

The manuscript contains three minor treatises by Cyprianus:

1r-11v: De mortalitate

12r-22v: De bono patientiae

22v-31v: De habitu uirginum, cap. 1-20

One leaf (between present f. 21 and 22) has been missing since the 11th century, causing a lacuna in the text of De bono patientiae between cap. 21: cum and cap. 23: contra|dixit. The last four chapters of De habitu uirginum are missing

The manuscript was bound together with the manuscript GKS 2034 4° at least since c. 1200; this can, i.a., be seen from the list of contents on f. 1r. It once belonged to the abbey of Saint-Victor in Paris, where Friedrich Lindenbrog (1573-1648) took it over. Later it became part of the library of Gottorp in Schleswig, the manuscripts of which were transferred to Copenhagen in 1735
