Christiern Pedersen: Epistler og Evangelier som læses alle søndage (Paris 1515)

The Danish humanist author Christiern Pedersen (who died 1554) spent parts of the period 1508-1515 in Paris. Here he published a number of books in the printing-house of Jodocus Badius (Josse Bade), some in Latin (e.g. Saxo Grammaticus’ medieval history of Denmark) and some in Danish. Among the Danish books is the Epistler og Evangelier (LN 208). This is a collection of sermons (postil) following the ecclesiastical year. The sermons are accompanied by examples, jærtegn, (many taken from everyday life) - hence the common name of the work, Jærtegnspostillen.
