Sociology

Sociology is the study of social institutions, the interaction between social institutions, the interaction between social actors and social institutions - and social change.

The Faculty Library of Social Sciences

Sociology includes both traditional core areas like for example sociological theories and methods, social change, social interaction, social groups and stratification - and more special aspects of the subject. Sociology also includes demography and general social science, that is social scientific subjects of a more general kind or studied on a more general level. Subjects like for example statistics, social history, welfare states and mass media are not primarily covered by sociology.

It's very important for the library to buy new books, which represent a high scientific standard, and which have a special interest for students and researchers at the University of Copenhagen. Most of the books bought are in English, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. Sociological books represent the main part of the acquisitions.
