Journals and articles

How to find an allready known journal article?

  • A specific article in which the author, title, and publication data (journal title, volume, number) is known.
  • Search for the journal in the catalogue REX (books etc.) - write the journal title and choose "journals" in the box below. REX contains both printed and online journals. Find the right volume, number (and article) - and make a request or print.

  • Search for the journal in E-resources - choose social science journals and write the journal title. E-resources contains only online journals. Find the right volume, number, article - and print.

  • Search for the article in the catalogue REX (articles) - use the author's surname and 1-2 words from the title - and print if possible. This part of REX contains many online articles (but not all) and Danish articles (almost none online). If you can't find the article - or if you can't find an online version of it - try one of the methods mentioned above.

  • If the journal/article is not found in REX, and if you want to request it from another library - use the "Special request" in the upper part of the screen.

How to find unknown journal articles?

  • Articles on specific subjects - articles in which the authors, titles, and publication data (journal title, volume, number) are unknown in advance.

  • Search for articles in international bibliographies - choose E-resources, choose social science databases, and write a database name. These databases contain a great amount of journal articles (and sometimes also books and articles in books) from the whole world, but mostly from English speaking countries. Normally there are links to REX from the articles that are found - and to the online versions of the articles if these exist. The most important sociological databases are seen here

  • Search for articles in the catalogue REX (articles). This part of REX contains many online articles (but not all) and Danish articles (almost none online).

  • Search for articles in full text databases - choose E-ressources, choose Shortcuts to articles and books in full text, and choose a database. These databases contain articles from some online journals, but which journals and vary from database to database - this means that a more random and restricted number of articles can be found in these databases.

  • Search for articles in specific online journals - find the journals one by one in E-resources as described above. Some journals are subject specific - however not all articles on specific subjects are published in subject specific journals.

  • Search for articles in Nordic article databases - bibliotek.dk, LIBRIS and Norart contain articles from Denmark, Sweden and Norway. bibliotek.dk is found on the internet - and the other two are found in E-resources under "Databases..." -> "General".

  • Search for German articles in IBZ online - found in E-resources under "Databases...".
