Courses and lectures

The Social Sciences libraries at CULIS (The libraries of the faculties and the department) offers a variety of courses on search techniques aimed at the students who studies anthropology, political science, psychology, sociology and economics. The aim of these courses is to help the students develop their skills in information search.

As a background we take contact to the students three times in the course of their studies: When they begin their studies, around the time they are doing their bachelor's assignment (or when they are half way through theirs bachelor's degree) and around the time they are doing their thesis. It is at the library's interest that the courses on serch techniques are planned in cooperation with the teachers and that the University integrates the techniques in the courses and lectures.

The courses can be adapted to different levels dependingon the student's background knowledge. For instance, it is possible to plan courses for the exchange students within the various diciplines. The course will be based on relevant subject databases as well as an introduction to other relevant services that the library provides.

Preplanned courses and guidance

The libraries offer the students a range of preplanned courses on the subjects. To book a course it is required that the students assemble a group of a least five people. The courses are held continously and independantly of the other courses at the library.

If the student needs guidance on information retrieval in relation to his or her assignments, he or she can book a session with one of our subject specialists. This service aims at individual students as well as small groups of students.
