Databases
Author: Søren Bertil Fabricius DorchPhysicists can use several different bibliographical databases for finding articles (papers) and books. One of the most used database is NASA's Astrophysics Data System (ADS) from Smithsonian, which is freely available. The following is a link til an ADS mirror at Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg:
- ADS Abstract Service (NASA) (the physics section of ADS)
- CDS CERN
- SPIRES, Stanford (HEP)
Please notice that you only have fulltext access to the papers in ADS that are published in journals to which the University Library subscribes (plus of course the journals that have open access).
Furthermore, many physicists upload their preprints and reprints to arXiv.org:
physics/ at arXiv.org and the IoP-interface to preprints
Besides the above mentioned databases, it is also possible to find physics literature in the following databases:
-
INSPEC from WebSPIRES (Silverplatter): Currently only access to Backfiles (1898-1968)
- Web of Science from ISI Thomson
The three databases are all commercial, which means that unless you access them from an institute at Copenhagen University (or the library), you will have to use our remote logon feature.
