The Niels Bohr Institute
University of CopenhagenAuthor: Bertil Fabricius Dorch
The physics subjects (physics, geophysics and astronomy incl. astrophysics, cosmology etc.) are both degree programs and active research fields at University of Copenhagen.
All employees at the Niels Bohr Institute have remote access to the electronical ressources provided by the University Library (i.e. e-journals, databases and e-books). If you work or study at home (or abroad), you can use your social Danish CPR number and PIN to logon to the library's website and gain access. In order to be able to use the remote access, you must be registred as a library loaner. Should you experience any problem regarding off-campus access, please email email@example.com.
Please notice, that currently it is unfortunately NOT possible to obtain remote access to journals and databases from the subject webpages: You will have to use the e-resources (former Elektra), to access a journal remotely. However, access from campus does not require the use of remote access.
The institute libraries at the Niels Bohr Institute
Apart from the physics and astronomy books at Copenhagen University Library, you may also find books on astronomical subjects at the institute library at the Niels Bohr Institute: The NBI library has most of its astronomy books at the library in the Rockefeller Building (RF) on Juliane Maries Vej 30 and most of its physics books at the library on Blegdamsvej.
The Ph.D. is part of the physics degree program. Unfortunately, there is currently no long access to the astronomy and physics theses at the website for physics Ph.D. theses (at NBI's website).
The student organization for astronomy is called Astronomisk Studenter Forening (ASF). Furthermore the physics students have a website PSI, where you may find views on student life, book reviews and what not.
