Far East: China, Japan and Korea

Acquisition of books and journals in humanistic studies in Western languages on Far Eastern subjects, both on paper and electronic. Materials on modern law, politics, social and economic conditions are covererd by other subject specialists in the Library.

Emphasis on the traditional fields e.g. philosophy/religion (Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism), history, linguistics, literature and culture (culture includes modern times).

Materials in Chinese, Japanese and Korean belong to the National Library:  Far East Collections

Materials from the Far East are also found at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, which is the center at the University of Copenhagen for studies and research in languages and cultures of India, South East Asia, Tibet, China, Japan and Korea. The Department has a reference library.

NIAS-Nordic Institute of Asian Studies has a library with materials primarily in Western languages on Modern conditions in Asia. However itconcentrates on Central Asia, South Asia South East Asian and the Far East. NIAS is a research institute which supports researchers and students including possibilities for scholarships.
