REX – the online catalogue
You can search for all materials in REX, which includes the collections of the Royal Library and CULIS (Copenhagen University Library and Information Service).
Limit your search to the Faculty Library of Humanities by choosing this in the roll down menu below the search-field. After you have searched, choose Collection > KUB Syd in the left column Refine your search.
Materials located at The Faculty Library of Humanities are marked Amager Udlånssamling (loan collection) or Amager Håndboggsamling (reference collection and journals).
Books
Books acquired from 2008 to present are arranged chronological according to time of purchase on the Library’s ground floor.
Some of the books acquired before 2008 are arranged according to the SK2-classification system on the ground floor and 2. floor.
A substantial collection of reference books covering all subjects of humanities can be found on the 1. and 2. floor. Reference books are only for use at the Library.
Materials located at The Faculty Library of Humanities are marked Amager Udlånssamling (loan collection) or Amager Håndboggsamling (reference collection and journals).
The majority of books are placed in stacks and must be ordered in REX. If you order a material before 7 a.m., you can pick it up the same day after 2 p.m. Check availability and location when ordering, as some of the books are only for use in the reading room at the Black Diamond.
In REX you also find the collections of the department libraries of Copenhagen University (these are referent libraries which means that you cannot borrow the books) as well as literature from the other faculty libraries at The University of Copenhagen. The latter can be ordered just like the books in stacks.
In the database library.dk you can search and order books from all Danish libraries.
If you cannot find the desired books in a Danish library, you can fill in a special request or propose an acquisition.
Theses
MA-theses from 2002 to present and Ph.d.-theses from 1993 to 2007 are located on the 1. floor. Older theses are placed in stacks, newer Ph.d.-theses are placed in the book collection.
Newspapers, journals, articles, databases and electronic reference works
Today’s newspapers and the current issues of a selection of journals covering various subjects of humanities can be found on the ground floor. Newspapers from previous weeks and current volumes of journals are placed on the 1. floor. Older issues are placed in stacks. All journals can be searched in REX and borrowed.
The majority of journals are electronic. The Library provides access to electronic journals, databases and electronic reference works qua REX or the e-resources site. If you are a student or an employee at the University of Copenhagen you have remote access to online journals, databases and articles.
On the subject pages (the menu to the left) you can find relevant elektronic ressources for the various subject areas.
In REX you can also search directly for articles (choose the panel Articles). Please note that this function does not search the entire collection of electronic journals.
