Centre for Manuscripts & Rare Books

The Centre for Manuscripts & Rare Books is situated on level F-West in the Royal Library, Slotsholmen. Opening hours: Mon. - Fri. 10 A.M. - 5 P.M. Wed. 12 A.M. - 7 P.M. Saturday closed.

All manuscripts and books printed before 1531 (Danish books printed before 1600) must be used here.

In the reading room you'll find:

Registers and catalogues of the department's collections
Catalogues of manuscripts in other libraries
Text editions based on the materials of the department
Works by Danish authors, including collections of letters etc.
Facsimiles of Danish and foreign manuscripts and books
Reference works concerning book history and bibliographies
Encyclopaedias and dictionaries
Selected journals

Facilities at the Centre:

27 seats in the reading room.
conventional cable access to the Internet
wireless access to the Internet on your own portable computer.

The use of valuable and rare materials is only allowed if the borrower has a special identity card with a picture (read more here).
